Is tissue grafting painful?
It is usually done under local anesthesia. Antibotics will be prescribed to limit inflammation. Medication may also be prescribed to manage any post operative pain should you experience any.
How long does the procedure take?
Depending on the location and size of teh graft, the surgery may take place in as little as 30-60 minutes.
Should I avoind eating anything?
The surgical site should be left undisturbed, toothbrushing and chewing should be avoided at the surgical site. You may be perscribed a soft food diet for a few days. Mouth rinse will also be prescribed to clean the surgical site.
How does bone grafting differ from soft tissue grafting?
Bone grafting takes place at a different level of tissue but the healing process is virtually the same as soft tissue grafting.
